Sodium Overnight :D

Hey Guys! Prom is a week a way and the overnight is a week after prom :D

Kung pwede na kayo magpaalam, go! NOW!

I don't think mapapayagan si Dennis na 10-12 ang overnight (or kahit tayong mga pupunta :)) )

So... Feb. 10 - 11 na lang ung overnight.

The usual lang ulit, Bonding, Swimming, Cards, Movie Watching, Billiards (meron na :)) ), FoosBall, Gaming (Osu anyone?), Food Trip, Mantritrip, etc.

So Dennis ipaalam mo na, Sodium tayo rin.

Btw, the whole batch daw is invited :)) pero Sodium lang nakakaalam :D. So (don't) spread the word, tell Ronida and Edmund also :)).
Thats all for now I guess. OVERNIGHT! OVERNIGHT!

-Maki (I lost the Game)

    Name/s
    Section:

    Title of Project Being Critiqued
    Group Code

    Researchers' Names

    CRITIQUE

    Log book
Update it with your accomplishments/progress for the STR-related things that you do, especially with regards to the development of your experiment. Attach all receipts, consultation information, etc.

    TORMentoring
If you haven't yet, you have to give a presentation on your research/poster to your partner fourth year group, so they can give their comments and suggestions, plus take a picture with them in front of your poster. (Although that part is mostly for their requirement.)

  • Bio
    Film Showing

Answers to the guide questions are due on Friday, February 4. You can watch everything here or you can get a transcript from this site.

Chapter 1. Passing On Your DNA
    1. Why is sexual reproduction more advantageous than cloning?

    Chapter 2. The Egg’s Journey
    2. Describe the path the egg takes after being released from the ovary.
    3. The video states that an egg will survive only a few hours if not fertilized. More recent information suggests that an egg will survive at least 24 hours and perhaps as long as 48 hours if not fertilized. How does that fact influence the most fertile time when couples are attempting to avoid pregnancy using the rhythm method?

    Chapter 3. The Sperm’s Journey
    4. What kind of obstacles will a sperm encounter once it enters the female?
    5. Where in the female reproductive tract does fertilization of the egg occur?

Chapter 4. The First Two Weeks
    6. Why would more than 50% of all fertilized eggs not survive? What kind of problems could a fertilized egg encounter?
    7. How do identical twins form?
    8. How does the blastocyst prevent the mother’s immune system from destroying the developing embryo?

Chapter 5. The Embryo Takes Shape
    9. Describe the three cell layers that develop and include what parts of the body those cell layers will become.
    10. How are genes turned on?

Chapter 6. Messages in the Genes
    11. Where is the SRY gene found? What does it do? When does it function?
    12. How do fingers (and toes) become separated from each other in the developing fetus?

Chapter 7. Feeding the Growing Fetus
    13. What is a placenta? What is the function of its villi?
    14. Do maternal and fetal blood mix?

    Chapter 8. The Third Trimester
    15. Why is human childbirth so much more dangerous than the births of other animals?

You can also get this from Ma'am Dawn's wordpress.

    Brain activity
Can be done during the discussion itself, although it's easy so you can probably do it beforehand as well.

  • Re: Important Dates

Reminders & Requirements.//

Happy birthday Miel. ;)
See: YMSAT Schedule (from Cs) or from the SA.

For YMSAT, January 24-28:
  • Bio Film Showing

You can choose to go either to the one on Monday or the one on Tuesday, depending on your activities or the schedule you prefer.

  • Amazing Race

I'm not sure, pero most likely may bonus points sa subjects na covered ng race (i.e. Bio, Physics, Chem) kung mananalo ung section ;) So bring extra clothes to be sure, and uh, mentally prepare yourself?

  • Quiz Bee

Counted as a long test. The class should be divided into three to answer the Easy, Average, and Difficult questions.

  • Water Rocket

Make a water rocket! By groups of three, according to the groups you chose. You can test them with the launchers on Tuesday, at around three PM, and the actual Physics Olympics date is on Thursday.

  • STR

Deadliest deadline for your posters is on Monday, before 7.30AM. Look for your panel board number and location in the list outside the STR unit. Only use polymer tack. (I think Thea is supposed to buy for the class?) I think Ma'am is going to announce the partner groups for the mentoring thing, too.

  • Chem

The displays and video presentations are due. Make sure you have 30-40 pieces of your pamphlet available, and I guess a laptop to show your video (although you should probably have an OPF signed)? :O

  • Physics Seminar

Me, Gem, Marlo and.. meron pa bang iba? Seminar somewhere on Thursday, after the Olympics.

  • Computron Competition

Leif, Dario, Kenneth, and Janina, you're Sodium's representatives! Pero one of you has to be the alternate, so decide amongst yourselves na lang. The list of all the representatives are here, if you're interested. The mechanics are here.

Other non-YMSAT academic requirements:
  • STR experiments

We have to finish by the end of February, take note, and since our experiments are mostly good for one-month, it'd be good to start working.

  • SS HW
For those who haven't had it checked yet, make sure you do next meeting.

  • Bio brain activity (label the parts/give the functions)
You can work on it next time we meet or in advance.

  • Achievement Test
is on February 8-10. Three weeks. Counted as a long test for Math and Chem.

  • Health Video
is due on March 4. Less than two months. Still a lot of time, pero still.

Other Notes:

  • For those with failing grades, please go to the card-giving on Saturday from 9-12. For those who've already gotten their cards, don't forget the reply slips. For those who can't go on Saturday but don't have any failing marks, then you can get your card on Monday from Sir Mendoza. ;D

  • JS Prom
Pay your dues to the batch council/Sir Nat/PTA treasurer! Two weeks.

  • Physical Examination
is on February 02/03. The 2nd of February for odd numbered students, the 3rd for the even numbered students.

  • No Classes
on February 11 and 25, both Fridays.

Smile,
Leona.

Chem Even Groupmates :D

Even naman!!!

Magshshoot tayo ng video sa Sunday (January 23, 2010)

sa Circle. Meeting place at the "Carnival"(?)

Bring red or black shirt (mas maganda kung both :D)

Hopefully Batch Shirts para uniform.

Di naman required ang PE shorts so pwede na shorts or pants.

For actual t-shirt color:

Red - 2 6 10 14 18 22 26
Black - 4 8 12 16 20 24 28

If you can't go directly there, I think Lianne can provide transpo? 2.30 at Pisay ung meet-up, I think, since 3PM ung start nung "shooting" itself sa Circle. For those going directly there, ayun nga, 3PM. Bring whatever you want to bring (water, extra clothes, etc.), basta. If you can't go, please say so, and for what reason.

Hope we can all come,
-Maki, Na08 (The Game)

//Leona

PS.

Tnx

Sodium Overnight :D

Where: The Usual = Bahay ni Dennis

When: February 10 - 11 (or 10 - 12) [One month early ako nagpost para makapagpaalam kayo :))]

Why: End of Achievement Tests / Valentines Day / Kasi maraming projects bago mag YMSAT / Kasi mahirap na ang after PROM party (chaka from 12mn to mga 10am lang yun)

Who: Sodium :D.

Food: Deli. So magsimula na mag ipon.

Doon na rin tayo kumain at magstay the whole day.

Ipapaalam pa ni Dennis 'to. Especially ung 2 night stay.

@Dennis Magpaalam ka na!

Walang pasok sa Feb.3 dahil Chinese New Year i think.
Nagiba na ang mga Astrological Signs natin pero I could care less! :))
Last Quarter na so Let's Do well!
